Who will Win the LEC (League of Legends European Championship) in 2022?

The League of Legends European Championship, better known as LEC, is scheduled to start again on January 14th and last for almost 3 months. A total of 10 teams are in the race for the title and in this article, you will learn more about its favorite competitors.

A Summary of LEC 2021

To get a better idea of what is likely to happen during LEC 2022, we must first take a look at what happened in the previous season. And to put it simply, MAD Lions dominated both splits, followed by Rogue and Fnatic. G2 Esports had a terrible year and failed to qualify for Worlds 2021, even though they had bought Rekkles from their main rival, Fnatic.

The strongest teams during the Spring Split were MAD, Rogue, and G2. In the Summer
Split, the same 3 teams won the Group Stage but in the Playoffs disaster struck for G2
and Fnatic stole their Worlds spot.

The Favorites of LEC 2022

LEC 2022 is just one month away. The competition will offer a lot of great matches to watch and of course, various LoL betting opportunities. But which are the teams to keep an eye on this upcoming season?

MAD Lions

MAD Lions has a big advantage over the other competitors, not only because of what happened last season but also because of its relatively intact roster. Most of the other teams have made massive roster changes and will need at least a few months to develop a functional strategy for the new lineup.

Meanwhile, MAD only needs to integrate one player: UNF0RGIVEN. There’s a caveat though: he is the team’s ADC, which means that he will need to play with the other 4 guys and at the same time, they will need to adapt to his style to some degree.

We’ll need to wait and see what happens in the first 3-6 matches but most likely, MAD
will prove to be one of the strongest teams in LEC in 2022.

G2 Esports

G2 Esports has 3 new players. The entire bottom lane has been replaced, as well as the
top lane. Only the jungler and the midlaner are still here but arguably, they’re the best
members of the old roster.

It will be interesting to see what G2 can do with its new lineup. Because it still has a few
superstars, the team will likely manage to stay near the top without too many problems.

But it’s unlikely that it will compete in Grand Finals. The new carry, BrokenBlade, used to compete for Schalke 04 and he’s not even close to the best Top players in the league. As for the carry, he’s literally a no-name. So it’s hard to compare him to Rekkles. Targamas, the new support player, is in the same category.

Obviously, G2 is pushing its luck here with quite a few untested players, trying to reduce
their costs but at the same time stay near the top thanks to their strong competitors. It
will be interesting to see if they succeed or not.

Rogue

Rogue’s roster is still partly unknown. Both Hans Sama and Inspired left the organization and will be replaced soon. But nobody knows by who. He used to play the carry role for the team, so Rogue will need to bring in a strong carry player. Otherwise, its glory days are over.

And the problem here is that Trymbi, the support player of Rogue, is still part of the roster. So it’s not like the org can bring in a well-trained duo. Instead, it will need to spend a lot of time and effort just to make sure that the team’s bottom lane can function properly.

Vitality

The 4th team that has a real chance of doing well this season is Vitality. Last season, the organization messed up badly. But given its big roster changes (no less than 3 of them!),
we can get our hopes up again. In particular, it will be interesting to see what Perkz can
do for this team. The man is an absolute legend and he might be able to perform very
well here.

Verdict

Based on what happened last season and the roster moves that have occurred since
then, it seems that MAD Lions is once again the big favorite to win LEC.
